Special Issue: Diversity in High-Rate Mechanics
Tuesday, July 19, 2022
by: Jennifer L. Jordan

Section: Experimental Mechanics

The Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials themed issue on Diversity in High-Rate Mechanics aims to focus on the contributions of diverse researchers to the field. The issue will be published in 2023 in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM). We are interested in technical papers within the scope of Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials.

For this special edition, diversity takes on a broad role as we recognize a range of identities and the value in the varied perspectives that each identity brings to the collective. As such, we seek to highlight and celebrate a wide assortment of researchers in dynamic behavior of materials, maintaining a particular emphasis on contributions from an inclusive group of underrepresented minorities, including women, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ researchers, and other diverse groups in the field.

In addition to the scientific manuscript, we request a biography, approximately two pages in length, describing career and research experiences, as well as anything you would like to share with early career researchers in the field. We also highly encourage the biography to include photographs. These biographies will be published separately, but along with the associated technical paper as part of the issue’s editorial.

Manuscript Submission:
Manuscripts should be formatted and submitted online according to the instructions for Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials at https://www.editorialmanager.com/jdbm/default.aspx. The authors must select “S I: Diversity” when specifying the “Article Type” in the submission system. Each submission will undergo the regular peer review process and must meet the quality standards (originality, novelty, quality of writing) of Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials. Only original research submissions will be considered. The papers will be published online as soon as they are accepted.

Biographies should be formatted and submitted online as a separate file at https://www.editorialmanager.com/jdbm/default.aspx. The authors must select “S I: Diversity” when specifying the “Article Type” in the submission system. The bios will be reviewed by the guest editors and will not be sent out for peer review.

Authors are responsible for editing their manuscript for language and grammar to meet the standards of Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials. Language check will be performed before the manuscripts are considered for peer review. If editing for language and grammar is needed, the authors will need to consult with a professional English language editing service. Unfortunately, JDBM does not have the resources to provide language editing. Springer recommends the following service: http://authorservices.springernature.com/language-editing.

Submission Deadline: The submission deadline for the special issue is November 10, 2022. Please email the guest editors if you intend to submit.
